Clear Party Affiliations

Annual List Maintenance

List Maintenance > List Maintenance Tasks > Clear Party Affiliations

When a voter returns a ballot with a party affiliation, after that ballot is recorded, the party is set for the voter for the remainder of the calendar year and cannot be changed.

You may choose to remove an Active voter's party affiliations at the end of every calendar year so the voter has the option to change the party for the upcoming year. The Clear Party Affiliations program finds all voters with a party affiliation and compiles the results into a report.

Note: In addition, the system resets a voter's party affiliation to NPA and clears the party affiliation date when reversing or adjusting voting history to a not voted status for a primary election IF a voter has not voted in another primary election in the current calendar year. See Reasons Why a Voter's Party Affiliation is Reset for more information.
